Low Carb Chaffle Burger

Posted on July 28, 2024 by yummy recipes

A low-carb chaffle burger is a delicious and keto-friendly alternative to a traditional burger. Chaffles (cheese waffles) are used as the buns, making the entire burger low in carbohydrates. Here’s a recipe for you to try:

Low Carb Chaffle Burger Recipe

Ingredients

For the Chaffles:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: seasonings (e.g., garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning)

For the Burger:

  • 1/2 pound ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or plant-based protein)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: spices (e.g., paprika, cumin)
  • 1 slice of cheese (optional)
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, etc.)
  • Low-carb condiments (mayonnaise, mustard, sugar-free ketchup)

Instructions

Making the Chaffles:

  1. Preheat your waffle maker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the egg until well combined.
  3. Add the shredded cheese and baking powder to the egg, mixing until well combined.
  4. Lightly grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or butter.
  5. Pour half of the mixture into the preheated waffle maker and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter to make the second chaffle.

Making the Burger:

  1. Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and any optional spices.
  3. Form the beef into a patty.
  4. Cook the patty for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  5. Assemble the burger by placing the patty on one chaffle, adding your desired toppings and condiments, and then topping with the second chaffle.

Tips

  • You can make multiple chaffles at once and store them in the refrigerator or freezer for quick meal prep.
  • Experiment with different cheeses for varied flavors and textures.
  • Use leaner cuts of meat for a lower-calorie option.

Enjoy your delicious and healthy low-carb chaffle burger!
