Homemade Condensed Milk Recipe jar

Posted on November 2, 2024 by yummy recipes

This homemade condensed milk is a fantastic substitute for store-bought versions, capturing that rich, creamy sweetness that elevates everything from coffee to desserts. The combination of milk powder, sugar, and water creates a velvety consistency, while the vanilla essence adds a warm, fragrant note that makes this recipe stand out. Perfect for recipes like pies, fudge, or ice cream, this condensed milk can also be spooned into coffee for a sweet, luxurious touch. With only a few pantry staples, you can make a jar of delicious homemade condensed milk, free from preservatives and fully customizable to your taste!

Ingredients:

  • πŸ₯› 1 cup of milk powder
  • 🍚 1 cup of sugar
  • πŸ’§ 1/4 cup of water
  • 🌿 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence

Instructions:

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: Start by mixing the milk powder and sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Ensure these ingredients are well-blended so that the final result has a smooth and uniform texture.
  2. Heat the Water: In a small saucepan, bring the water to a light simmer. You don’t want it to boil, just warm it up enough to dissolve the sugar and blend well with the milk powder. Once it reaches a gentle simmer, remove it from the heat.
  3. Dissolve the Sugar: Pour the warm water over the dry mixture in your bowl. Stir it slowly to help dissolve the sugar completely. Using warm water ensures that the mixture is smooth without any gritty texture.
  4. Add Vanilla Essence: Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence to the mixture for an enhanced flavor. The vanilla will give a rich aroma and a lovely depth of flavor, making this condensed milk taste incredible on its own or in recipes.
  5. Blend Until Smooth: To ensure a silky-smooth texture, you can use a hand blender or whisk the mixture vigorously. Continue blending until all ingredients are fully incorporated, and the consistency is thick and smooth. This step is crucial to achieving the texture of store-bought condensed milk.
  6. Cool and Store: Let the mixture cool down to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer the condensed milk to a sterilized jar or airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator, where it will thicken slightly and be ready to use in your favorite recipes.

Storage: Homemade condensed milk can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If it thickens too much in the fridge, just add a small splash of warm water and stir before using to bring it back to the right consistency.
